IndiGo to set up second MRO facility spread over 31 acres in Bengaluru in partnership with BIAL

IndiGo and BIAL have signed an MoU on May 30 to build a second MRO facility for the airline at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) will allocate around 31 acres of land to IndiGo to develop a second maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility for the airline’s expanding fleet, for which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on May 30.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo said, “This partnership with BIAL is a strategic step to boost IndiGo’s MRO capabilities and strengthen Bengaluru as a global aviation hub.”

The upcoming state-of-the-art facility at Kempegowda International Airport will be equipped to handle both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, enhancing IndiGo’s maintenance capabilities and operational footprint in Bengaluru.

Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil said Bengaluru is set to become Asia’s MRO hub, highlighting the state’s growing aviation infrastructure and commitment to industrial growth and skilled job creation.
