India to host 5th Coast Guard Global Summit in Chennai in 2027

India has been chosen to host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in 2027, a decision made unanimously by participants at the 4th CGGS in Rome, Italy.

The latest development highlights India’s expanding role in international maritime cooperation.

The announcement came during the summit held on September 11-12, attended by delegates from 115 countries and international organisations. The Indian delegation was led by Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, DG Sivamani highlighted the summit’s importance in fostering global cooperation to address maritime challenges. He thanked the Italian Coast Guard for hosting the event and acknowledged the Japan Coast Guard for its role as CGGS Secretariat.
