The first picture of four suspected terrorists, who were involved in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday, has been released by the security agencies. This comes after the first sketches of three suspected terrorists were released earlier today.
The names of three of them are Suleman Shah, Abu Talha and Asif Fauji, officials said.
Earlier, the first picture of another terrorist wielding an AK-47 rifle had surfaced. Reports said that the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack was top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saifullah Sajid Jutt. Jutt is believed to be operating from Islamabad and is a native of Pakistan's Punjab province.
26 people were killed after terrorists opened fire at them in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday. Many of them were newly married and were vacationing with their families. Terrorists allegedly killed them after confirming their religious identities, reports have said.
The mortal remains of those killed in the attack will be sent to their homes today. Home Minister Amit Shah paid his tributes to the deceased after reaching the attack site. Shah had reached Srinagar yesterday and had conducted a high-level meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his official trip to Saudi Arabia and returned to India on Wednesday morning, following which, he conducted a high-level meeting to discuss the attack. He has condemned the attack. "I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected," he said in a social media post.
Meanwhile, the attack has also coincided with US Vice President JD Vance's four-day visit to India with his family. Cultural programmes organised for Vance and his family have been cancelled after the Pahalgam terror attack. Vance and his wife Usha have condemned the attack.
