'Democracy is not just a system, but part of India's culture': PM Modi in Ghana's Parliament

Addressing Ghanaian Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about India's democratic traditions and emphasised that democracy is not just a system in India, but part of its culture.

Highlighting Ghanaian democratic institutions, the PM said Ghana has demonstrated immense commitment to uphold democratic ideals throughout its turbulent history. "Ghana is a country that meets challenge with grace," stated the PM.

Recalling the shared history between the two nations, PM said: " histories of India and Ghana bear scars of colonial rule but our spirits have always remained free and fearless."

We take pride in our social, cultural and linguistic diversities. We built nations rooted in freedom, unity and dignity. Our relationship knows no bounds. And with your permission, may I say, our friendship is sweeter than your famous sugarloaf pineapple,” added PM Modi.
