East Delhi’s Ghazipur garbage dump is an infamous menace. The waste pile up is so gargantuan that it now is almost the height of the historical monument Qutub Minar. Of the three garbage dumping grounds in Delhi, this one is the oldest; it came up in 1984.
All the waste generated in East Delhi, Central Delhi, and Old Delhi is dumped here. Disgusted by the ghastly sight of the ‘mountain of garbage’ at the long-saturated landfill, the residents of the national capital took recourse to sarcasm to vent out their grievances.
It has been a year since the residents have been rating the Ghazipur landfill on Google, mostly five-star ratings. The colossal waste dump has been compared to the Himalayas and also been dubbed the “most beautiful” place in all of Delhi.
With 99 reviews and an average rating of 3.2 on Google at the moment, the anecdote on the “famous” Delhi mountain was first pointed out by Twitter user and author Siddharth Singh.
Here’s how Twitter users responded.
