Aadhaar Card updation date extended

The government has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar details without any fees. Initially set for June 14, 2024, the deadline has now been deferred to September 14, 2024, as per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website.

Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number issued based on biometric and demographic information, plays a crucial role in various services requiring Aadhaar OTP authentication. It helps prevent duplicate and fraudulent identities, ensuring that each resident has a unique number linked to their biometrics.

For those whose Aadhaar was issued over 10 years ago and hasn't been updated, UIDAI advises submitting documents as proof of identity and proof of address to validate and improve demographic information. This ensures better service delivery and authentication success.

To update Aadhaar details online, follow these steps:
1. Visit the official UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in/
2. Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP received on your registered mobile number.
3. Verify your identity and address details displayed.
4. If corrections are needed, select the appropriate documents (identity and address) from the drop-down menu and upload them (files should be JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and under 2 MB).
5. Review and submit your request after providing consent.
