The novel coronavirus pandemic has spread across 187 countries and territories. Today is the forty-seventh day of India’s nationwide lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased, especially in non-hotspot areas.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India stand at 62,939. The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 2,109. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases. A massive exercise to repatriate Indians stranded abroad is underway.

Coronavirus in India LIVE Updates | Railways to start special passenger trains from May 12, bookings to start from tomorrow on IRCTC website
Indian Railways: Indian Railways plans to gradually restart passenger train operations from 12th May, 2020, initially with 15 pairs of trains (30 return journeys). These trains will be run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
Thereafter, Indian Railways shall start more special services on new routes, based on the available coaches after reserving 20,000 coaches for COVID-19 care centres and adequate number of coaches being reserved to enable operation of up to 300 trains everyday as “Shramik Special” for stranded migrants.

The Centre has deployed Indian Naval Ship Kesari with medical assistance teams and essential medicines in the southern Indian Ocean Region to help nations deal with the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
"Responding to their requests for assistance in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, Government of India has sent Indian Naval Ship Kesari to Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles, carrying on board two medical assistance teams, consignments of COVID-19 related essential medicines and essential food items," the MEA said in a press release.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today issued fresh guidelines on restarting manufacturing industries after the lockdown period.
While the nationwide lockdown will be place till at least May 17, reopening of industries has been allowed in non-hotspot areas. This also comes just days after the gas leak incident in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.
