Domestic and international passengers taking their flights from the Delhi airport can now get themselves tested for COVID-19 right before their departure, its operator DIAL said on Tuesday.The COVID-19 testing facility at the Delhi airport started on September 12 and it was available for international arrivals only till date.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), in association with Genestrings Diagnostic Centre Pvt Ltd, on October 28 had set up a COVID-19 sample collection booth in front of gate no. 8 of Terminal 3 for passengers who were taking international or domestic flights, according to a statement.

Coronavirus in Maharashtra | Thane records 518 new COVID-19 cases; 19 more fatalities
An addition of 518 fresh cases ofcoronavirus has taken the tally in Maharashtra's Thane district to 2,12,647, an official said on Tuesday. Apart from the latest cases detected on Monday, the district also reported 19 deaths that raised the toll to 5,371, the official said.
With over 1.98 lakh recoveries, the recovery rate in the district stands at 93.26 per cent, while the mortality rate is 2.53 per cent, he said. Currently, there are 8,960 patients undergoing treatment in the district, he said.
COVID-19 Vaccine Update: Zydus Cadila completes phase-2 trial, to submit data in November
Cadila Healthcare (Zydus Cadila) said it has completed enrolment and dosing of 1,000 volunteers in phase-2 clinical trials of its potential Covid-19 vaccine, ZyCoV-D, and plans to submit the data to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) this month.
“At present the immunogenicity evaluation is going on,” said Sharvil Patel, Managing Director of Zydus Cadila, in an update to analysts during the company’s earnings call on Monday.

Coronavirus pandemic | Air travel bubbles: Now Indians can travel to Netherlands, Tanzania and Rwanda
Tanzania, Netherlands and Rwanda have been added to the list of countries with whom India now has an air travel bubble arrangement. This takes the total number of countries, to where Indians now can travel, to 21.
As Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri had earlier pointed out, air bubbles are"at a stage short of normal civil aviation activities." In other words, these flights are a little more evolved than the repatriation flights, but have not yet reached the 'normal' stage.
Under the arrangement, airlines from both the countries are allowed to operate a specified number of flights between cities.

Zydus Cadila files investigational new drug application for COVID-19 treatment
Drug firm Zydus Cadila on Tuesday said it has filed the investigational new drug (IND) application for ZYIL1, positioned for management of critically ill COVID-19 patients.
"Following up on its initiatives to fight COVID-19 with diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics, the company is now focussing on cutting edge research to bring targeted therapies... it has filed the IND application of ZYIL1, a novel oral small molecule," the company said in a regulatory filing.

CureVac’s experimental COVID-19 vaccine triggered an immune response in humans, it said on Monday, putting the German biotech company on track to start mass testing this year as the race to end the pandemic heats up.“We are very encouraged by the interim Phase I data,” Chief Executive Officer Franz-Werner Haas said in a statement.
The biotech firm is using the so-called messenger RNA (mRNA) approach, the same as Moderna as well as BioNTech and its partner Pfizer, although they started mass testing on humans in late July.

Mainland China reported 49 new COVID-19 cases on Nov. 2, from 24 a day earlier, the national health authority reported on Tuesday. The National Health Commission said in a statement 44 of the new cases were imported infections originating from overseas.
