Tamil Nadu students can access lessons via 14 TV channels from August 1
Starting August 1, Tamil Nadu school students will be imparted lessons via television to make sure their studies are not hampered even as schools remain closed in view of the coronavirus outbreak.
Tamil Nadu Education Minister KA Sengottiyan announced on July 23 that the lessons will be imparted through 14 TV channels
He was inaugurating developmental works totalling Rs 2 crore in Nambiyur village, Erode district when he announced that the syllabus for school students and the estimated date when schools can be reopened is yet to be decided. However, an 18-member expert committee is currently working on it.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwalinvited sharp reactions on Twitter after promoting a brand of papad (snacks), claiming it can help fight COVID-19.
In the video, the BJP MP from Bikaner, Rajasthan, can be heard claiming that Bhabhi Ji Papad is made of ingredients that can help create antibodies to fight the coronavirus.
Meghwal, the Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga rejuvenation, and Parliamentary Affairs further said, in the viral video, that the papad manufacturer came up with this product under the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

Hong Kong reported 123 new COVID-19 cases today, including 115 that were locally transmitted, a new daily record, as authorities warn the city faces a critical period in containing the virus.

The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the ICMR to come out with a clarification that mobile number, government issued identity card, photographs or even a residential proof ought not be insisted upon for COVID-19 test of mentally ill homeless persons.
According to an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) advisory of June 19 every person who was to be tested for COVID-19 has to provide a government issued identity proof and should have a valid phone number for tracing and tracking the individual and his/her contacts.
A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan said that ICMR should issue a clarification by way of a circular or an office order that the identity proof, address proof and mobile number are not required for testing mentally ill homeless persons. (PTI)

Thailand's job losses were estimated at 7-8 million during the country's coronavirus lockdown, but half of those might be recouped after the situation eases, the central bank chief has said.
The central bank has forecast Southeast Asia's second-largest economy to contract by a record 8.1 percent this year, as the pandemic has battered tourism and domestic activity. Thailand has removed most of its restrictions and has its outbreak under control after just over 3,000 cases in total, according to a Reuters tally.

"My health was not good for the last several days and I along with my personal staff tested positive for coronavirus. My request is that anyone who has come in contact with me in the last 10 days should take care of his health. With all your prayers, I will get well soon," Meena said in a Hindi tweet.
