Today was the 60th day of India’s nationwide lockdown, meant to curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India stand at 1,25,101. The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 3,720. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases.

The number of COVID-19 patients in Mumbai is doubling over a period of 14 days, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said today as he interacted with doctors of BMC-run hospitals.

A fire broke out in an operation theatre and recovery room at the third floor of Cygnus Orthocare hospital opposite IIT here in south Delhi today evening, officials said.
This is a reserve hospital for COVID-19 patients and there were eight patients present when the incident occurred but all were evacuated safely. (PTI)

The total number of cases in the state rose to 47,190 and the death toll reached 1,577, it said.

Coronavirus LIVE updates | Sikkim reports first COVID-19 case as Delhi returnee tests positive

Sikkim reported its first COVID-19 case on Saturday as a 25-year-old student who recently returned from Delhi tested positive for the disease, a senior official said.
The sample of the student was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri for testing. The report came back positive, Health Department Director General-cum-Secretary Pempa Tshering Bhutia told reporters in Gangtok.
