'BJP is dictatorial, wants to turn Bengal into its colony': Mamata Banerjee says in WB Assembly, chaos erupts

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of having a dictatorial attitude. Mamata's remarks attracted applause from the leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress in the state.

"The BJP has a colonial mindset. They want to turn Bengal into their colony and run it by remote control from Delhi," Banerjee said during a discussion in the West Bengal Assembly, Hindustan Times reported.

The Chief Minister further said that the saffron party "sold India's prestige" before foreign powers. She further alleged that the Central government was sometimes seen "begging" before the United States, and sometimes even before China, news agency PTI reported.

After Banerjee made the remarks in the West Bengal Assembly, the Opposition MLAs raised slogans. After the chaos that erupted in the West Bengal Assembly, Bengal BJP leader Sankar Ghosh was suspended from the state assembly by Speaker Biman Banerjee for the rest of the day.
