Counting of votes for the crucial Bihar assembly elections began at 8 am on Friday, with initial trends indicating the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is ahead in several seats.

Early trends from postal ballots indicated a strong showing for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which took a decisive lead with over 200 seats. The Mahagathbandhan (MGB) or Grand Alliance, led by the RJD and Congress, trailed significantly with leads in over 30 constituencies.

Witnessing a high drama during the poll campaigning and the preceding EC's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise before Bihar went to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, all eyes will now be on who will be the new Bihar Chief Minister chosen by the voters.
