Bengaluru tops with 31% of all pets flown in India, reveals Akasa Air

On National Pet Day (April 11), Akasa Air said that over 6,200 pets have flown through its ‘Pets on Akasa’ service since November 2022.

Bengaluru’s pet lovers have ensured the city wears the furry crown of being India’s leading hub for pet travel, contributing 31 percent of all pets flown by Akasa Air, followed by Delhi and Mumbai.

“The most popular routes for pet travel were Bengaluru–Delhi, Delhi–Bengaluru, and Mumbai–Delhi,” Akasa Air said. “Since launching its Pets on Akasa service in November 2022, Akasa Air has flown more than 6,200 pets, reflecting the growing preference among Indian flyers for pet-inclusive travel,” the airline shared.

Of the furry travellers, 66 percent were dogs and 34 percent were cats.
