The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct examinations for classes 10 and 12, today at 10:30 AM. The class 10 exams will conclude on March 13 and the class 12 exams will end on April 2.
As pressure may mount on some students for performing well, here are five major adivces and suggestions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered Pariksha Pe Charcha programme.
Organised by the Ministry of Education, Pariksha Pe Charcha has been engaging students, parents and teachers for the past six years.
Competition must be healthy
Even though competition excites people, it should be healthy and need not be the cause of any negative effect on candidates.
“If there are no challenges in life, life becomes uninspiring and demotivating. Competition and challenges act as inspirations in life, but such competition must be healthy,” PM Modi said.
Rest and recharge
Sometimes students pressurise themselves with new goals and over-planning. This needs to be avoided to provide rest to the mind and body after rigorous preparation.
“Just like mobile phones need to be recharged before being used, our bodies also need to be recharged. It is necessary to strike a balance between study, rest, and play. Some students keep playing all the time; a healthy body is necessary for a healthy mind. But, good and sound sleep is also a must for good health. Don't use your bedtime to watch reels,” PM Modi said.
Focus on yourself
There are instances of students striving to mirror the practices of other candidates in performing well. The focus should be on yourself rather than others because habits and practices are unique to individuals rather than generic.
“Stop paying attention to who is doing what around you. Keep your focus on 'you'. What you are, what you do, and what you practice, are what will decide your future,” PM Modi said.
Do not panic
There may be chances where students might not know the right answer to certain questions. However, the mantra is not to panic and embrace the situation.
Students should move on to the next challenge/question and not waste time on “self-imposed failure”.
"Students need to be ready to go deal with any situation. When we visit a cold place, we prepare ourselves mentally and gear up to embrace the weather. Similarly, you have to prepare yourselves for your exams,” PM Modi said.
Eye on future
It is possible that a certain exam may not go well. However, students must be resilient and prepare for future.
“At times, children burden themselves without intrusive thoughts about their performance not being up to the mark. I suggest, you set small goals while preparing and gradually improve your performance. This way you will be completely ready before your exams,” PM Modi said.
