In a powerful and unequivocal warning to Pakistan, Army chief Upendra Dwivedi on Friday said that Pakistan's geographic existence will be wiped off if it does not end state-sponsored terrorism.
Speaking to troops in Rajasthan's Anupgarh, the Army chief said that India will not maintain the restraint it did in Operation Sindoor 1.0.
The message was a clear signal that Operation Sindoor, launched in May to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, has not ended.
Issuing a stern warning to the neighbour, the Army chief said that Pakistan will be erased from the map if its support to terror groups does not end.
"This time we will do something that Pakistan will have to think whether it wants to be in Geography or not. If Pakistan wants to be in geography, then it must stop state-sponsored terrorism," he said.
In July, the Army chief had said that Operation Sindoor was a message to Pakistan as well as a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which was a deep wound for the entire nation.
He noted that while mourned the Pahalgam attack, it also showed that the response would be decisive.
The two countries were engaged in an intense four-day military conflict in May following India's airstrikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). India maintained that it did not target any military or civilian infrastructure and exercised restraint while targeting terror groups.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Rajnath Singh have repeatedly said that Operation Sindoor continues against Pakistan, asserting that any terror attack on Indian soil will be considered an act of war.
