Minta Devi became the centre stage of the Opposition's protest against the Special Intensive Revision

Bihar’s Minta Devi, who became the face of the Opposition's protest against the Election Commission, said she had applied for a voter card due to financial difficulties, according to Indian Express.

According to her, she tried applying for a personal loan in April to cover the fees of her children. However, she was told to produce a voter card, which she didn’t have at the time. “Paisa ka abhi dikkat jyada ho gaya hai (Our financial difficulties have worsened lately),” Minta Devi’s husband Dhananjay Kumar Singh told IE.

Minta Devi became the centre stage of the Opposition's protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar on Tuesday.

The Opposition claimed that she was listed as a 124-year-old woman on the EC's voter list. The INDIA bloc MPs also wore "124 Not Out" t-shirts with her name to showcase errors in the electoral roll and alleged discrepancies in the voter list.
