Amit Shah on Partition: 'Appeasement politics of Congress to blame, not Muslims'

PM Modi on Tuesday said that the two-nation theory was imposed from the top and did not reflect the will of most Muslims who believed in unity and coexistence.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday rallied behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on Partition and said that the common Muslims of the country never wanted division of India.

“Muslims never wanted division of the country, and PM Modi has rightly said that the Congress leaders of that time are responsible for the country’s partition, their appeasement politics is responsible for it,” Shah said while speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit.

“I want to tell the country’s youth today. Tolerate anything else, but appeasement is one such poisonous ideology, which must be rejected by the youth. Those who do appeasement politics are against the nation’s interests. They compromise with policies for national interest for the sake of their vote bank.”
