India has successfully test-fired the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based mobile launcher system, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in a post on X.

The next-generation missile, with a strike range of up to 2,000 km, is equipped with advanced features and was launched from a specially designed rail-based system.

This launcher can move freely across the rail network without prior requirements, providing cross-country mobility, rapid reaction capability, and reduced visibility before launch.

Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), and the Armed Forces on the achievement, noting that the successful trial places India among a select group of nations with the capability to deploy canisterised launch systems from a mobile rail platform.
