On the sixth anniversary of Digital India on July 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries of various schemes. From students to farmers, various beneficiaries shared their experiences about how adopting digital methods made their lives easier. The digital India programme was launched on July 1, 2015, by the prime minister.
The digital India initiative was launched with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
In his interaction, he said, "Following the principles of 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance', the need of the hour is to bridge the gap between the system and facilities, service and service between the government and the public."
The PM said digital India means opportunity for all, facility for all, participation of all. It also means a transparent, non-discriminatory system and an attack on corruption.

DigiLocker is a good example of how effective Digital India has been. All important documents such as school/college documents, Aadhar, PAN, Voter ID card can now be stored easily and securely on DigiLocker.
Digital transactions have brought an unprecedented change in the lives of farmers. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, more than 10 crore farmer families have been deposited directly into the bank account of Rs 1 lakh 35 crore. Digital India has also realized the spirit of One Nation, One MSP. This year around Rs 85,000 crore of record wheat procurement has directly reached the bank accounts of farmers. Till now, farmers of the country have done transactions worth more than 1 lakh 35 thousand crores from the eNAM portal itself.
Digital India campaign has helped the country during the Corona period. At a time when big rich countries were unable to send aid money to their citizens due to the lockdown, India was sending thousands of crores of rupees directly to the bank accounts of the people.
The digital solutions that India has prepared in this Corona era are a topic of discussion and attraction all over the world today. One of the world's largest digital contact tracing app, Aarogya Setu has helped a lot in preventing corona infection, PM Modi said.
CoWin has attracted interest from several countries across the globe. Many countries have also shown interest in India's COWIN app for vaccination. A monitoring tool such as CoWin for vaccination drives is a testament to our technological strengths. We've experienced how easy digital India has made our lives during COVID.
It is through Digital India that One Nation, One Ration Card is being made true. It is benefiting migrant workers the most, as they will not have to make new ration cards anymore.
According to an estimate, several tech companies from India will join the unicorn club. This shows the opportunities the joint power of data and demographic dividend are bringing to us, said Modi.
This decade is going to enhance India's capabilities in digital technology & its share in the global digital economy. That is why top experts are looking at this decade as 'India's Techade', he added.
