4 dead in lightning strikes in Rajasthan, hundreds stranded in Himachal as monsoon advances

At least four people were killed in lightning strikes in Rajasthan on Monday and hundreds were stranded in Himachal Pradesh as monsoon rains lashed a large part of north and west India triggering flash floods, landslides and roadblocks at some places.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the southwest monsoon further advanced into some more parts of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, and remaining parts of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Delhi witnessed muggy weather conditions on Monday even as some parts of the national capital received rains, keeping the mercury in check.

There was a cloud cover over the city throughout the day with Safdarjung observatory recording a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, the IMD said. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.
