Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kazan to attend the 16th BRICS Summit, receiving a warm and spirited welcome from the Indian diaspora. A video shared by the Prime Minister captured the lively reception at the airport, where officials greeted him with traditional delicacies as a gesture of hospitality.
"A connect like no other! Thankful for the welcome in Kazan. The Indian community has distinguished itself all over the world with their accomplishments. Equally gladdening is the popularity of Indian culture globally," the Prime Minister wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Upon arriving at the Hotel Korston, PM Modi was met with exuberance as members of the Indian community, proudly waving the Tricolour, welcomed him with chants and a joyful Sanskrit song. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with dhol beats, dance performances, and devotional bhajans that celebrated Indian culture.
A Russian dancer, part of the performing team, expressed her excitement, saying, "We were thrilled and a bit nervous; we rehearsed for nearly three months for this dance. People really admire PM Modi."
Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, shared on social media, "PM @narendramodi lands in the heritage city of Kazan, Russia. On arrival, PM was warmly received by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov."
In a notable cultural exchange, the Prime Minister engaged with members of the Indian diaspora and listened intently to a Krishna bhajan performed by Russian nationals. The artists, dressed in traditional Indian attire, showcased a heartfelt rendition of the devotional song dedicated to Lord Krishna, which PM Modi appreciated with his hands folded in gratitude.
The 16th BRICS Summit, taking place from October 22-24, is hosted by Russia under the theme "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security." During his visit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral discussions with fellow leaders from BRICS member nations and invited guests.
Prior to his departure for Kazan, approximately 900 kilometers east of Moscow, PM Modi emphasized India's commitment to close cooperation within BRICS, highlighting its significance as a platform for addressing key global developmental issues.
