In 2025, Auto Expo visitors may not have to travel all the way to India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. This is because the recently-inaugurated Yashobhoomi, at Dwarka, is tipped to host the next edition of the bi-annual automobile exposition. The venue was previously known as the India International Convention and Exhibition Centre (IICC).
The Auto Expo is organised jointly by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The SIAM spokesperson has said that there have been no discussions regarding the venue for the next Auto Expo.
However, according to sources, Dwarka, a suburb of Delhi, is likely to host the 2025 Auto Expo as it is well connected by the metro and not too far from the airport, even though it is not as centrally located as Pragati Maidan.
A senior official of an international automobile manufacturer, requesting anonymity, said, "My global CEO would like to land at T3 (the airport), stay at Aerocity next door, unveil the model at IICC, and fly back a day later. It is less cumbersome and can be managed in less than a day. If that is the venue, not just us, but many other companies will start participating in the Expo."
With a total area of over 8.9 lakh square metres and built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres, Yashobhoomi is among the world's largest MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) facilities. It boasts of a magnificent convention centre, multiple exhibition halls, and other facilities. Of the Rs 25,700 crore earmarked for the project, Rs 5,400 crore has already been spent on the first phase.
