Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Group, expressed his admiration for the high-quality human resources and the potential that strong bureaucracy that Tamil Nadu possesses, while speaking at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (TN GIM) 2024 on January 8.
"Tamil Nadu has the ability to provide an environment that will bring the best in us. I've always stood with this… Tamil Nadu has an outstanding bureaucracy here, the government enabled businesses to grow," Mahindra said.
Mahindra shared some of the significant experiences he had from the days he went to school in Tamil Nadu to setting up multiple businesses here.
“I went to school in TN. What I learnt coming to TN from Mumbai is the way education worshipped in this state, that was my first memory of Tamil Nadu,” He said.

Mahindra said that the rich human resource in the state has even made him change his mind about setting up a manufacturing facility in the state.
“Our team was concerned that there might be a famine of investments in the late 90s in Tamil Nadu, it was the Ford team that told us that Tamil Nadu is the place to be. The quality of the human resources is great in TN. The energy and the education in people they saw made us change our minds," he added.
M&M in July 2023 said that the company is setting up an electric vehicle battery testing facility at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chengalpattu and a crash test facility at Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT) SIPCOT, Cheyyar Industrial Park, both in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM) is a two-day event that opened on January 7 at the Chennai Trade Centre. This edition had around nine partner countries and more than 30 participating nations.
Chief Minister MK Stalin on January 8 said that the Global Investment Meet (GIM) has brought investments worth Rs 6.64 lakh crore, which is poised to generate 26.9 lakh jobs in the state.
