Infosys has issued a statement clarifying its hiring process for freshers, which involves an internal assessment that the trainees must clear before continuing with the company, after Moneycontrol reported citing sources that the IT major has terminated nearly 400 trainee employees at its Mysuru campus.

Infosys released a statement on the issue, and said the company has followed an existing policy as per which the freshers will not be able to continue with the organization if they fail the assessment.

"At Infosys, we have a rigorous hiring process where all freshers, after undergoing extensive foundational training at our Mysuru campus, are expected to clear internal assessments. All freshers get three attempts to clear the assessment, failing which they will not be able to continue with the organisation, as is also mentioned in their contract. This process has been in existence for over two decades and ensures a high quality of talent availability for our clients," Infosys said, as reported by PTI.

Nearly half of the trainees onboarded in October 2024 are in the process of being fired, Moneycontrol reported on February 7, citing sources. The trainees are being called in batches of around 50 and are being made to sign 'mutual separation' letters, sources told Moneycontrol. These freshers were onboarded after a 2-1/2-year-long wait.
