Tata Harrier and Safari duo receive 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests

The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, are both powered by the same 2.0-litre Kryotec engine.

On the child occupant protection front, the Safari and Harrier scored a total of 44.54 points out of a maximum of 49

 

With the Bharat NCAP crash tests finally up and running, official testing began on December 15. The authority has now released their first set of results testing the new facelifted Tata Safari and Tata Harrier awarding both SUVs five stars. Just about a month ago, the cars were also tested under the Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) standards and won five stars for both adult occupant safety as well as for child occupant protection.

Scoring between both the Global NCAP and the Bharat NCAP are largely similar. While on the Global NCAP crash tests, the Safari and Harrier scored 33.05 points out of a maximum of 34 in adult occupant safety, on the B-NCAP, the SUVs scored 30.08 out of a maximum of 32 points. According to the report, the crash test dummies displayed good protection for the head, knees and feet of both passenger and driver.

While the passenger dummy also displayed good protection for the tibia and chest, the driver’s chest displayed adequate protection for the right tibia and marginal protection for the chest. In the side movable deformable barrier test as well as the side pole impact test, the dummies displayed good protection overall.
