Villas for actors, outdoor sets, studios, and a university to train technicians are among the amenities that the upcoming Film City near Noida International Airport, being developed by filmmaker Boney Kapoor, will offer in its first phase, according to officials aware of the development.
Kapoor has recently submitted a master plan consisting of the layout for the Film City project’s first phase, spread across 230 acres, to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for approval. The construction work is likely to begin from January end after the approval of the master plan.
“Boney Kapoor along with other representatives of the consortium met YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh in the last week of December and submitted the layout plan of the project containing the masterplan for the Film City project. The approval is likely to be given soon,” a senior YEIDA official told Moneycontrol.
A consortium led by Kapoor’s firm Bayview Projects LLP in association with Noida based real estate developer Bhutani Infra was awarded the contract of construction, maintenance and operation of the Film City in Sector 21 near upcoming Noida International Airport.
According to officials, the tentative investment for the first phase of the project is likely to be around Rs 1,500 crore.
Luxury villas for actors
As per the master plan, one of the key aspects of the Film City will be the construction of 15 three-bedroom villas for film stars.
Officials said that these villas will have a gymnasium, private swimming pools, and space for personal staff, so that actors can directly go for their shoots in the film city premises.
They said that apart from constructing the villas, the consortium will also build studios, outdoor sets and a university to train technicians under phase I of the Film City project, which is being developed along the Yamuna Expressway.
“These villas will have amenities at par with star rated hotels so that actors, directors and other staff do not have to entirely depend on the availability of hotels located far from the Film City,” an official aware of the matter said.
The Film City will also provide equipment required for film shooting and production such as cameras, trolleys, cranes, and lights, digital labs on-site, which will enable filmmakers to get all the things they need at one place, officials said.
Of the 230-acre land that Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP is allocated, 75 acre is designated for commercial development, while 155 acre is set aside for setting up industrial infrastructure to meet the requirements of the film industry.
The industrial aspect of the project will comprise the development of film studios, a film institute, post-production facilities, and other film-related developments, while the commercial part will include activities such as hospitality projects, and amusement parks, among others, officials said.
YEIDA will provide all infrastructural support for the project, which includes electricity, water supply, roads, public transport and sewerage network.
