HDFC Bank has reduced its fixed deposit rates for deposits up to Rs 3 crore for different tenures— applicable immediately for domestic, as well as non-resident Indians (NRIs), and non-resident external (NRE) accounts.
The bank is offering a maximum interest of 6.45% on tenures starting from 18 months to 3 years for deposits up to Rs 3 crore. Senior citizens, who are 60 years and above, will get an additional 50 basis points (bps) on their deposit than regular ones.
However, the senior citizen rates do not apply to NRIs, whereas the maximum tenure an NRE account can invest on HDFC Bank fixed deposit is up to one year.

HDFC Bank’s move to reduce FD rates comes only two days after the State Bank of India reduced its rates for deposits up to Rs 3 crore, and more banks are expected to reduce their rates in the coming days. Such a move by the two banks comes after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reduced the repo rate by 25 bps from 5.50% to 5.25% on December 5, 2025.
