Upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport accorded IATA location code as 'NMI'

'NMI' has been assigned as the IATA code for Navi Mumbai's DB Patil International Airport

The upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport has been accorded a 3-letter location code as 'NMI', as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA) website on May 3.

A search on the IATA website showed up  'NMI' as the IATA code for Navi Mumbai's DB Patil International Airport, while Mumbai's existing international airport - the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA) - continues to carry the location code 'BOM'.

The airport code, also known as a location code, is a three-letter geocode assigned to airports and metropolitan areas around the world, defined by the IATA.

Last year in September, IATA had assigned 'DXN' as the location code for the upcoming Greater Noida international airport.
