NAVs advance as markets closed with moderate gains

Equity funds were seen gaining in yesterday's session as market closed with moderate gains. In the debt front, Gilt funds were seen under pressure while others Long and Short funds delivered decent performance.

Equity funds were seen gaining in yesterday's session as market closed with moderate gains. All the funds in broader category Large cap advanced with no losers while Small & Mid cap registered a few. Among others, ELSS took the lead with no decline.


In the sectoral front, Banking & Finance and Technology showed excellent performance with no decline. Among defensive sectors, Pharma & Healthcare funds closed in green while FMCG ended mixed.


The markets are trading on easy pace due to lack of any positive triggers. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 75.71 points to close at 17,633.45 while the 50-share NSE Nifty went up 27.50 points to 5,347.90.


Speaking of debt funds performance, Gilt funds were seen totally under pressure where Gilt Long term ended in a negative terrain while Gilt short ended mixed but positive returns. The other Long and Short term funds delivered decent performance with few decline. The debt market is watching out for the inflation data and is expecting some Govt action on the fiscal front as well.
