With a large portion of its portfolio devoted to India, Cartica Capital does not change its positioning in the short-term, says Katalin Gingold, Head-Equity Research. She is hoping there will be a fine balancing act in the Budget. She believes in the long-term, India is poised to outperform other emerging markets. She says: "Our positioning hasn't changed in anticipation of the Budget."
Gingold says Cartica has a stock-picking strategy and pays close attention to management track record. According to her, this recent bout of volatility is giving investors good opportunity to find companies with attractive valuations and good management record.
She is also not investing in the finance space and adds banks need to clean up their NPLs. "The transmission mechanism also needs to be de-clogged. At the moment, we are not betting on PSU banks, but are looking at select private sector banks."
