Calcutta High Court has upheld the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011 as constitutional and valid, but held that Tatas may apply for compensation for damages, if any suffered by them.
According to Sandeep Bharadwaj, Derivium Tradition Securities, what has happened in Singur has been written off from a market perspective. If the company receives some compensation then it would be positive.

However, Bharadwaj sceptical about the growth of auto industry from a global perspective. Q: We are hearing couple of details that there will be some compensation that will be paid within six months of application by Tata Motors. However the Calcutta High Court has upheld the Singur Land Rehabilitation Act. What is your initial thoughts on how the stock would react? A: From the market perspective most of us have written off what has happened in Singur. If they do get some compensation out of it, it will be positive. I would like to comment on the way the whole deal has panned out. The State and the Central Government should realise that any decision taken for the industry should be honoured. The way it flip-flops is extremely negative for the perception of the industry and this irresponsible behaviour on part of the government. Q: What is your call on Tata Motors? A: We are a bit sceptical about the growth of auto industry from a global perspective. Q: There was some talk about Tata Motors going ahead and developing something on that 600 acres that was allowed to them in the Singur land out of the 1,000.
