Budget 2012: Expect hike in excise, service tax, says BMR & Associates

Bobby Parikh, founder and managing partner, BMR & Associates told CNBC-TV18, the objective of the government will be to reduce fiscal deficit by containing subsidies in the upcoming Budget. He said the government can get some efficiency, if they able to use Aadhaar and UID to direct subsidies.

Bobby Parikh, founder and managing partner, BMR & Associates told CNBC-TV18, the objective of the government will be to reduce fiscal deficit by containing subsidies in the upcoming Budget.

To deal with this problem, the government will have to find some way out to collect more taxes, he said. So, he expects to see 2% uptick in excise duty and rise in service tax rates.
