At 8:15 hours IST, Asian markets were trading with modest gains barring Shanghai. Hang Seng was trading at 22,704.96, up 19.74 points and Straits Times gained just 2.67 points at 2,986.18.
Seoul Composite went up 8.5 points to 2,011.92 and Taiwan Weighted rose 67.18 points to 8,534.89. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average surged 270.74 points or 2.94% to 9,477.49; it was closed yesterday. There were reports that the engineers had restored electricity to three reactors at the Fukushima plant and hoped to test water pumps at the damaged facility soon.
