Here are experts equity calls for the day on how the markets are expected to trade:

Manoj Singla, Religare: Our December 2012 Sensex target of 18,000 implies 16% upside from current levels. Global and Indian macro risks are both unlikely to ease quickly in 2012. This makes it difficult to have high-conviction industry and sector bets. Instead, we are advocating building portfolio positions via stock selection till clarity emerges on macro front. Chris Wood, CLSA: The remarkable performance of the US markets in 2011 is due to the relative weakness of the dollar and the S&P 500's gearing to overseas revenues. A big risk for the US stock market would be a rally in the dollar triggered by a major sell-off in euro. With the new ECB boss saying one thing and doing another, the risks to the euro are now growing.
