New telecom policy should enable consolidation: Experts

Besides damaging confidence in the Congress-led coalition government, the  2G spectrum scam has also worried investors in Asia's third-largest economy. Suresh Mahadevan of UBS Securities and Kunal Bajaj from Analysys Mason shared their concerns with CNBC-TV18 on the issue.

Kunal Bajaj said that he would likely to see more names implicated in the 2G scam. He feels that if licenses are canceled, spectrum may be available. "The telecom companies are waiting to get clarity on potential mergers and acquisitions in the industry. More acquisitions will lead to consolidation in the industry.
