Whether it is Lehman or quantitative easing or tapering for that matter, a fact of globalization is global inflows and outflows of funds can have huge destabilizing effects on all economies.

The Centre for Financial Research and Learning, a think-tank setup by the RBI is currently holding a conference in the national capital on how emerging economies should manage such volatile capital flows.

A highlight of this conference is a panel discussion between Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate & Economist, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Lord Adair Turner, Former Chairman, UK Financial Services Authority and Nemat Shafik, Deputy Managing Director, IMF.
