The fiasco of an auction that ONGC was has set minds ticking about the efficiency of the process. Nonetheless, the disinvestment target decided, the government seems to be hurrying things up at the last moment to achieve at least part of the goal, compromising on quality and leaving a mess behind.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Prithvi Haldea of Prime Database says that the ONGC auction was designed pretty well, but had far too many loopholes.
