Mcleod Russel, the largest tea company in India, will report first quarter numbers today. Analysts on an average expect the profit after tax to grow by 12.4 percent year-on-year to Rs 21.7 crore, according to a CNBC-TV18 poll.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation & amortisation (EBITDA) are likely to jump 29 percent Y-o-Y to Rs 29.5 crore and operating profit margin may surge 600 bps to 21.7 percent in April-June quarter as against 15.7 percent in a year ago period.
Total income, however, is seen going down by 6.6 percent to Rs 136 crore from Rs 146 crore Y-o-Y.
Analysts expect tea sales of around 8 million kg (5 percent Y-o-Y growth) and 2 percent increase in realizations to Rs 195-196 per kg.
Erratic rainfall and two floods in north-eastern India in FY13 had resulted in lower production of tea from the region, but FY14 has been relatively better, feel analysts.
