Idea Cellular is not expected to report firm July-September results as revenue is likely to be impacted by pronounced seasonality in voice and slowdown in data growth. According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, the telecom service provider may report Q2FY16 net profit at Rs 814 crore, down 12.5 percent from Rs 930.8 crore on a sequential basis.
Revenue may slip 0.7 percent at Rs 8735 crore in Q2 against Rs 8798.3 crore in quarter-ago period. During the period, EBITDA may come in at Rs 3095 crore compared to Rs 3228.4 crore quarter-on-quarter. Margins may 130 basis points on a qauterly basis.
Analysts polled by CNBC-TV18 say volumes may drop 2 percent in the second quarter at 192 billion minutes against 195.8 billion minutes. Revenue per minute (RPM) may be slightly high by 0.7 percent at 44.8 paise versus 44.5 paise (Q-o-Q) while average revenue per user user (ARPU) may also slip 3.3 percent (Q-o-Q).
The company has expedited its 4G launch to Q1 2016. Analysts will keep a keen eye on whether data growth will continue and watch out for commentary on call drops.
