State-run hydropower company NHPC reported a 47.30% increase in net profit in the first quarter of the current fiscal at Rs 791.05 crore as against Rs 537.42 crore in the same period last year.
The net sales were up 40.29% at Rs 1,431 crore versus Rs 1,020 crore year-on-year. Its other income was up 35.23% at Rs 238 crore versus Rs 176 crore.
Speaking at a press conference, ABL Srivastava, CMD of NHPC said the company had to pay water tax to the JK government. "We had to pay around Rs 200 crore in this quarter," he said.
However, he added, the amount has not been included in the tariff pending approval.
