A report by Indian Space Association, Deloitte and NASSCOM on October 10 recommended the development of digital public infrastructure in the space sector to unlock value in the sector.

The report recognises three core satellite commercial application areas – Remote Sensing/Earth Observation (EO), Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), and Satellite Communication (SATCOM). Within these three areas, the report identifies more than 200 use cases.

For example, earth observation has found critical applications in agriculture; SATCOM-as-a-service can create multiple applications in areas such as in-flight and remote area connectivity etc. India's PNT programme, including NavIC, can assume a pivotal role in transportation, communication, and defence, the report said.
