The global crypto market-cap is $1.71 trillion, a 3.05 percent decrease over the last day. The total crypto market volume over the last 24 hours is $85.89 billion, a 6.98 percent decrease. The total volume in DeFi is currently $10.53 billion, 12.26 percent of the total crypto market 24-hour volume. Bitcoin's price is currently $37,927.18. DeFi Transactions at 1-Year Low, NFTs Set All-Time High in Q1: Report

The volume of DeFi transactions was the lowest it’s been in a year, while NFT transactions reached an all-time high during Q1, according to a new DappRadar report. DeFi refers to a collection of financial tools on blockchain networks that allow for the trading, borrowing, and lending of crypto assets without third-party intermediaries. These products have seen a large increase in users in the last two years, though the market has since cooled in recent months. But NFTs, provably unique tokens that are used to demonstrate ownership over digital assets, have never been more popular. Read more here.

Central African Republic Didn't Share Bitcoin Adoption Plans With Central Bank: Report

In its rush to make Bitcoin legal tender this week, the Central African Republic (CAR) reportedly neglected to inform its central bank. A spokesperson for the Bank of Central African States, a regional central bank for the six countries that use the Central African CFA franc (XAF), said the bank hadn't been notified in advance, according to a report from Bloomberg. The office of President Faustin Archange Touadera signed into law a bill making Bitcoin an official currency alongside the CFA franc. It became just the second country to do so, after El Salvador, which adopted BTC in September. Read more here.

Leading NFT Marketplace OpenSea Now Accepting ApeCoin

In the buildup to today's Otherside metaverse drop by Bored Ape Yacht Club creators Yuga Labs, top NFT marketplace OpenSea has announced it's now accepting ApeCoin. This comes just days after APE became the largest metaverse token by market cap. ApeCoin, as of this writing, was up 1.3 percent over the last 24 hours and more than 33 percent over the last week, according to data compiled by CoinMarketCap. Other side is a metaverse game world—built in partnership with NFT game publisher Animoca Brands—featuring a number of projects, including the Apes, CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Cool Cats.
