Spectrum charge can't be revised for Reliance Jio: Sources

Reliance had won spectrum in the 2010 auctions before the government had adopted the new spectrum fee regime for auctions starting 2011. Fee revision is allowed only on auctions post 2011.

Reliance Jio can breath a sigh of relief as sources in the Attorney General's office told CNBC-TV18 that the spectrum usage charge (SUC) based on the 2010 licence agreement, for the company, cannot be revised as the law does not permit fee revision. Reliance had won spectrum in the 2010 auctions before the government had adopted the new spectrum fee regime for auctions starting 2011. Fee revision is allowed only on auctions post 2011. This may be disheartening news for other telcos, who had expected a uniform spectrum fee, as usage charge for 2010 auctions is 1 percent while auctions starting 2011 are charged at 3-8 percent.Reliance Jio is a part of Reliance Industries that owns Network 18 Media & moneycontrol.comWatch video for more.
