BJP fights FDI policy, says it'll have bad eco implications

The market has been anxiously waiting for a lot of policy reforms from New Delhi. Some important bills are coming up for consideration in the next few weeks, including foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail and insurance along with some progress on the goods and service tax (GST), etc. But, in an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Yashwant Sinha, BJP leader, former Finance Minister and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance says that the party is against opening up the retail sector.

According to him, there is no need for FDI in multi brand retail because it will bring on adverse economic implications. In stead, there are isses that have to be addressed with regards to GST. "There are considerable issues in GST that need to be addressed, but, we (BJP) don't want a hurried decision on its rollout," he says. Below is a verbatim transcript of his interview with CNBC-TV18
