On the second day of the hearings at the Calcutta High Court, Tata Motors once again lashed out at the government. It said that the Singur plant is far from dead, and it was unreasonable to expect the company to handover the land, reports Amrita Panja of CNBC-TV18.
Today's session was a short one of one and half hour. The government did not get a chance to present their side. Also Read: Singur Act subjecting Tata Motors to hostile discrimination Tata Motors' advocate Samaraditya Pal had pleaded the judge yesterday to ask the district magistrate to be the custodian of the land for a night, alleging loot ever since the government took the possession of the land from June 21 night. But, that plea was set aside with the advocate general saying that there was enough security. There are 591 police who have been deployed there. Today, once again advocate Pal alleged pilferage and loot at the project site by presenting video graphs from news channel. In the view of this, justice Soumitra Pal has asked the district magistrate of Hooghly to prepare a ground report and submit it by 11 am in the morning tomorrow. A copy has to be presented to advocate Pal after which he would continue with his proceedings. The government proceedings will start at 2 pm in the afternoon.
