The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is carrying out a safety audit of Kingfisher Airlines (KFA). The report on KFA is likely by the week-end, reports CNBC-TV18, quoting DGCA sources.

DGCA sources say, KFA's licence cancellation is unlikely. Corrective measures will be suggested to beleaguered airline. “It is easy to cancel an airline's licence, but difficult to revive,” sources add.

The audit will gauge impact of financial situation on safety.

Meanwhile, Kingfisher's chief financial officer Sanjay Agarwal made a presentation on the airline's performance, severely impacted by financial distress, before DGCA chief Arun Mishra.

The airline told aviation regulator that it had curtailed its flight operations due to the grounding of six of its 17 aircraft fleet and pilots' strike.

Agarwal is understood to have informed the regulator that payment of pending salaries to pilots, who have been frequently striking work over the issue, has begun today. The pilots are now being paid their March salaries.
