CNBC-TV18 catches up with Kris Gopalakrishnan, a well known name in the Indian IT space as well as the global IT space, as part of the Emerging India Awards 2011.
Kris is one of the founding members of the original Infosys team that has taken it from a company that was started with just Rs 10,000 crore to a USD 6 billion dollar enterprise now. Q: Do you believe we are now in a tougher period than we were in 2008 or do you believe at least the businesses are better prepared even though the governments may still be as vulnerable?
A: I believe businesses are less vulnerable because they have had time to clean up their operations, make them more efficient, they have showed up their balance sheets and their cash positions are better. They now understand that they are going to be in a period of low growth for several years. So they are better prepared.
Having said that, you cannot under estimate the ripple effect of a serious failure happening in one of the sovereign countries
