Govt wants clarity before reframing telecom license policy

Former additional Solicitor General and constitutional lawyer KTS Tulsi says the apex court’s decision is on expected lines.

The review petitions filed by seven telecom companies as well as the review petition filed by the Prime Minister of India have been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The verdict on the 2G license cancellation case has left these private companies now looking at their legal options.


The Supreme Court says there is no justification for rehearing the matter, there is no error apparently in the judgment and hence the Supreme Court's order stands.
It has also gone ahead and dismissed former Telecom Minister A Raja's review petition. The court, however, accepted the government's review petition for hearing on April 13. Main Story: Supreme Court dismisses cos review pleas in telco case
