Fresh from a symbolic win after the Supreme Court maintained natural resources need not be auctioned, Finance Minister P Chidambaram emphasized once again that the government's view on the subject stand vindicated.
Friday's joint press conference by Chidambaram, Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal and Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid is a grim reminder of a similar press conference held when Opposition had wanted the prime minister's resignation over coal scam and had stalled functioning of Parliament. “The court has laid down principles which are in complete consonance with what the government has always believed and endorsed,” the finance minister said. Speaking about 2G auction, he said it will go ahead as planned and the realisation will be substantial. Sibal said the government can now start taking decisions without the fear of interference from other Constitutional authorities.Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
