Unique Trees, the Hyderabad-based company which sells exotic, imported plants to a clientele of movie stars and corporate bigwigs, wants to spread its branches.
Despite having doubled its revenues in the last three years of its existence to Rs 20 crores in FY13, Unique Trees is hoping to raise money from the capital markets by going public next year in order to aid its expansion plans, report CNBC-TV18's, Appaji Reddem and Arvind Sukumar report. The company imports plants and trees from over 20 countries and sells them with a price tag of anything between Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 crore. Ramdev Rao, MD, Unique Trees said, "Mukhesh Ambani, Shahrukh Khan and even Chiranjeevi have taken trees and some of our real estate clients are DLF and Raheja." Unique Trees is now looking to grow more. Besides HNIs, the company, floated by Hyderabad based serial entrepreneur Ramdev Rao, is hoping to participate in upcoming highway, airport and botanical projects in India. For this, the company has already acquired 300 acre for operations in the outskirts of Hyderabad and is looking to expanding the business to 500 acres. Raa added, “With Rs 50 crore from internal accrual, we want to go for Rs 200 public issue in 2014. So for the garden centre and the nursery, we are considering about Rs 250 crore." According to the management, the untapped potential of this niche business of imported plants could be over Rs 2,000 crore per annum.
